Pat Robertson & Hugo Chavez

The second part of the blogging series will be posted tomorrow, as I've found my-self a bit overwhelmed by a few things. Therefore, today I would like to hear your thoughts on Pat Robertson's recent remarks on Venezuela’s dictator, Hugo Chavez. I must confess that I am of two minds on this one.

Here are Pat Robertson's words:
“You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it,” Robertson said. “It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war ... and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop.”.....
“We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability,” Robertson said.
“We don’t need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator,” he continued. “It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.”....

The Smart Christian says:
Although Chavez is a real and preasent danger, it goes without saying that Robertson's comments will be used by many to shame the follower of Christ.

On the other hand, Chavez is a brutal dictator, who has no qualms about crushing those who defy him & is holding his people hostage to poverty & oppression. It is also highly likely that he supported bin Laden with more than a birthday card. All who live in a democracy, both Christians & non-Christians, & are able to enjoy its benefits do have an obligation to share their gift with others. Sugar coating the truth is never helpful, Hugo Chavez is an evil tyrant & should not be allowed to continue terrorizing the people of Venezuela.

What say you?

Update: The reaction of the Venzuelan MSM & bloggers.
